Diode battery isolators allow two or more batteries to be charged simultaneously from a single alternator without being connected to each other. Discharging the accessory battery does not discharge the starter battery. Argo battery isolators feature low voltage drop thanks to Schottky diodes: The voltage drop at low current is approximately 0.3 V and at rated output approximately 0.45 V. All models are equipped with a compensation diode that can be used to slightly increase the output voltage of the alternator. This compensates for the voltage drop across the diodes in the isolator.
